Somewhere Between Dreaming and Doing

I once stayed in a place on a wharf in Pyrmont with this view and immediately forgot all my plans. The kettle boiled three times before I actually made the tea—too busy watching the boats drift by like they had nowhere better to be.

Scenes like this stick in my head. Later, I paint them partly from memory, partly from imagination—trying to catch that feeling more than the facts.
