Down the Hallway and Back Again

Every time I paint a hallway, I end up back in my grandmother’s house. Same soft carpet. Same stack of Reader’s Digests. Same feeling I’d get sneaking down the corridor hoping no one would notice I was after another biscuit.

These rooms don’t exist anymore—but in my head, they’re still lined up perfectly, just waiting for me to walk through again.
